The flue lining is one of the most important aspects of any chimney. Flue liners are typically made out of metal or clay and used to direct combustion products out of the home while the fireplace is in use. Flue liners keep your air clean by directing smoke, soot, and gases outside whenever a fire is burning. Over time, these tiles weaken due to the acidic nature of the vented gases, extreme heat, absorption of moisture from rain and snow, and the shifting and settling of the house and foundation. Harsh weather or normal wear-and-tear can cause cracks in the liner, resulting in house fires, carbon monoxide leaks, and health hazards.
